Shows A Clean and User Friendly Interface
Mozilla has finally revealed the long awaited Metro-Style Firefox browser. The image posted by Mozilla shows a browser similar to IE (Metro) in overall design but, there are some new features which cant be found in the Metro IE. The page moves down from the top when the tabs bar is opened and the navigation bar has changed a bit from Metro IE and the buttons on the navigation bar has new styles.
We last week heard that the development of Metro-Style Firefox has started but, now, the Mozilla Wiki has posted the details on the design of the Firefox browser for Windows 8.
The core design is same as IE (Metro) but, additional features have been added to make it look more similar to Firefox desktop version. Being in early phases of development, the concept of Metro-Style Firefox contains the following features:
Movable page from top: Whenever the tabs bar would be opened the whole web page would shift downwards to give full view of the website, unlike the Metro IE which opens the Tabs bar on top the web page making the content hidden at the top of the page behind the tabs bar.
Improved Bottom Navigation Bar: The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen works in the same way as the Metro IE but, the buttons have different styles and the address bars style has also changed.
As you can see in the above image, Metro Fireox is similar to Metro IE in overall interface but, the colors and style are different. The similarity may be due to the Metro-Style and because all the Metro apps are identical in overall interface.
Well, this is only the image but, we would see a working and fully functional Firefox Metro-Style browser soon.
The question I have been wondering about and have always talked is, whether plugins would be supported in Metro-Firefox or not. We previously know that all other Metro-Style browsers (excluding Metro IE) would be launch able from desktop but would provide the Metro experience. If, the Firefox is launch able from desktop then we may see plugin support in it. These are only speculations and nothing can be confirmed unless or until we see an official announcement from Mozilla about that matter.
On the other hand, Google is also working on the Metro-Style Chrome browser for Windows 8.
Looks like, there would be a tough competition between Metro IE, Chrome and Firefox about best performance and ease of access.
There isn't any news from Opera and Apple about Metro-Style Opera and Safari browsers respectively.
