Title: GoWorld prototype: Windows 8 on a tablet with a slide-out keyboard

Windows 8 is expected to run on desktop, notebook and tablet computers — as well as devices that fall somewhere in the middle. A Chinese company called GoWorld is showing off a prototype Windows 8 computer that can function as both a notebook and a tablet.

Netbook News spotted the prototype at the Intel Developer Forum in Baijing last week.

The computer has a 13 inch capacitive touchscreen display and what looks like a full-sized keyboard with a small touchpad area.

When you want to convert from notebook to tablet mode you just push the screen all the way back and slide it over the keyboard. But you can use the touchscreen whether you’re holding the tablet in your hands or resting the computer on your lap or on a table like a notebook.

At this point the GoWorld system is just an engineering sample and it’s not clear whether this particular computer will ever make it to market. But slider-style tablets like this are among the many designs Microsoft and Intel have been pushing for Windows 8 computers.
