Windows 8 is pretty good in features and almost all the functions which had to be done with third party apps have now been integrated in it. One example is the .iso file mount option. Yep, you can mount an .iso image file directly from your Windows 8 without the need to install any third party app.

Hundreds of software out there comes in the form of .iso files or International Organization for Standardization image which has all the files packed in it. Even, Windows and Office sources are also available in .iso image forms. It is useful for those people who intend to burn a DVD or mount it to USB but, some people like me use the .iso file to start the things directly from Windows without bothering to mount/burn it.
Previously, we had to use some mounting software like Daemon tools, Alcohol, ISO burner etc but, Microsoft has integrated the options in the Windows 8 to get rid of that hitch. It may also be integrated as Windows RT (Windows 8 for ARM devices) doesn’t allow installation of third party legacy apps so, some alternative had to be introduced.
Just follow the instructions below and you will be able to mount the .iso files easily in seconds using the built-in option of Windows 8.
Instructions:
• First of all, go to the folder which has the .iso file which you want to mount.
• Now, select the .iso file and open the ‘Manage’ menu from the menu bar.
• In ‘Manage’, you will get two options; one ‘Mount’ and second ‘Burn’.
• Select ‘Mount’ and your file would be mounted and mounted file will open automatically.
• You can either choose to run the items in the .iso file from there or go back ‘Computer’ and select mounted device.
• You will see a new removable device in Computer in UDF format which is your mounted image.
• That’s all. You can now use your .iso image.
