Like all software, Internet Explorer is not without its occasional flaw, despite that Microsoft has made great strides, especially if you remember IE 6. Now a brand security problem has been discovered and the company has released an Advisory to warn customers about what it is and what can be done.
Security Advisory 2963983 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/security/2963983) regards a remote code execution, which can occur if the user surfs to a malicious site. This is typical of an attack that arrives as a link in email. However, Microsoft’s Dustin Childs states that “at this time, we are only aware of limited, targeted attacks”.
While the company doesn’t yet have a fix ready, Childs tells us “our initial investigation has revealed that Enhanced Protected Mode, on by default for the modern browsing experience in Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11, as well as Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) 4.1 and EMET 5.0 Technical Preview, will help protect against this potential risk”.
