All Surface devices comes with Windows recovery information that allows you to refresh your device or reset Surface to its factory condition. In case you have any issues with the Surface, you need to use the built-in recovery tools. If you can’t get to the recovery tools on Surface, you can download the files you need to get your Surface working again.

To download the recovery image, you’ll need a USB drive. For Surface RT and Surface 2, your USB should be at least 8 GB in size. For Surface Pro models, your USB should be at least 16 GB.
