Anyone who’s a former Google employee has enough credentials in my book to be a trusted product maker. Thus, it doesn’t surprise me to find out that three former Google employees have joined forces and created a firm called Jide, that in turn created the interesting Ultra Remix tablet.

The Ultra Remix model is a 11.6 inch Full HD slate with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. This model also packs a Nvidia Tegra 4 1 A15 processor, clocked at 1.81 GHz and a GeForce ULP 72 Tegra GPU. RAM quantity is 2 GB and the device supplies 64 GB of storage, as well as a microSD card slot with support for up to 128 GB. Both the front and back of the device sport a 5 megapixel camera, that supports Full HD video recording.

The company also integrated two microphones for videoconferencing and on the connectivity side, here’s WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0, as well as Miracast, microUSB and USB 2.0. A card reader also make the cut and a full QWERTY keyboard is available as an accessory. The keyboard is just 5 mm thick and it comes with a touchpad and screen cover.
The back of the slate integrates a kickstand, that reminds us of the Surface Pro 2 and finally the battery present here is a 8100 mAh unit. Probably the most interesting aspect about the Ultra Remix is the OS, which is Remix OS, a custom version of Android 4.4., optimized for touch, typing and mouse at the same time. Price is said to be around $450 and a Kickstarter campaign will start in February.
