Native support for Android apps on Windows 10 could soon be a reality, as a reliable new report claims that Microsoft is working to bake in support for this in its operating system.

And that means that Windows 10 powered smartphones, tablets and PCs will support Android apps.

The source of these claims, you ask?

None other than Paul Thurrott, who is betting that the Redmond based technology giant is very likely to make this feature official this week at the BUILD 2015 developer conference — that’s today or tomorrow, depending on which side of the planet you currently reside.

There have been plenty such rumors in the past, and this is something that diehard fans of the Windows platform have not been too pleased about.

In fact, reports about native support for Android app in Windows have been circulating for years now.

But it appears that Microsoft is not bothered by the negative backlash that a move like this may bring from Windows developers. This could either be a masterstroke that Windows Phone needs, or an uninspired move that has deep implications for the platform in the future.

Guess we’ll find out in a few hours.

Paul Thurrott still is one of the most credible sources of Microsoft insights in the community, after all.
