Time for a few Windows 10 development statistics! A bunch of numbers that show how work on Microsoft’s new operating system is coming along, and how many people actually test it out.
An insider source floated a snapshot of the Mission Control dashboard at the Redmond based technology giant, and it provides some insights into the current deployments of the ‘fbl_awesome’ preview builds of the operating system.
Both internally and externally.
And here are a few of the insights that the image reveals:
• Build 10130 is the latest build that testers with the OSG (Operating Systems Group) are currently testing on the internal fast ring.
• This version has been deployed on close to 1,500 test devices.
• On the slow ring side of things, OSG testers are currently testing build 10125, which, of course, leaked on the web not too long ago.
• Microsoft has a total of around 14,700 devices on build 10125 internally.
• Over half a million public devices enrolled with the Windows Insider program are now using build 10122, which was made available last week.
• Some 1.7 million devices are rocking Windows build 10074, the most recent slow ring release.
• An additional 155,000 machines are still on the build 10041, which was first launched for users enrolled in the slow ring on March 24.
• Along with the ‘fbl_awesome’ branch, there is also a ‘winmain’ branch of builds that are deployed internally at Microsoft, the most latest of which is build 10127.
Builds, builds, builds!
All this data is certainly enough to make the head go round, and shows that Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Windows 10 is up to the mark at launch.
And finally, the abovementioned source also provides a pointer or two about the Surface Hub, the gigantic touchscreen that Microsoft plans to launch for enhanced collaboration at education and work.
While the product is not yet available commercially, around 300 Surface Hubs are in use globally.
