With the Windows 10 release date quickly approaching, Microsoft has made some updates to how Windows Insiders get access to preview builds, tightening up the procedure.
Since the software titan is now focused on squashing bugs and polishing up the OS, it has now introduced new tools to deliver builds to users — and this necessitates the requirement of a Microsoft account, which is now must.
Those of you participating in the Windows Insider program and have deployed a build of Windows 10, will need to pair your install with your Microsoft account.
Starting with the next public release.
You will stop receiving new builds if you fail to do so, as Redmond makes it clear that they are making this change in order to ensure that only those people that have opted into the program are delivered future preview builds.
A small hassle, but there you go.
Gabriel Aul explains how users will be able to perform a clean install:
“Once you have successfully installed this build and activated, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh.”
So basically, Windows Insiders will, in fact, receive the final build just like any other build flight.
Also worth noting that a new Windows 10 RTM install will not require a Microsoft account. It will continue to be optional, and is only required for Windows Insiders that want access to the preview releases of the upcoming operating system.
