Expect to hear tons of juicy details regarding the Windows 10 Redstone development process from now on, as word is that Microsoft has started working on the next major update for the OS.

One that is on track for launch around one year after the debut of the operating platform.

Say, summer 2016?

Redmond obviously rolled out Windows 10 on July 29, and is currently busy with the first major refresh of the operating system that will either be made available towards the end of this month, or next. Most likely sometimes in November.

But the company also has Redstone on the horizon, a codename for the next major update for the OS.

And according to a report, this version is already in the works behind the closed doors at Microsoft.

Details are expectedly vague right now, but it is said that the early builds of Redstone are 99% similar to Windows 10, with a version with the string ‘rs_onecore_mqbase1’ has already been compiled and sighted online.

There have been hints that Microsoft might opt to release Redstone in two different waves, one in spring next year, and another in October.

That said, a summer 2016 release looks more likely now for this next version of Windows 10.

No official confirmation of any sorts from Microsoft, in case you’re wondering, so take this report at face value for now. Hopefully, those signed up with the Windows Insider Program get access to some of these builds in the near future, so the world can take a peek at what’s new.
