Now that’s a concept one can get behind! Akyumen Holofone may be a fancy name for a Windows 10 phablet, but it comes with a few interesting twists up its sleeve.

For starters, this is a dual boot device that runs both Microsoft’s new OS and Android.

Additionally, it also houses a projector.

A fairly powerful projector that offers a high definition 720p resolution and 45 lumens of brightness, with the ability to project its image up to a size of 100 inches diagonally. In considerable clarity too, with good color accuracy, even in a brightly lit room.

Here are its key specifications:

♦ Screen: 7-inch LCD with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution

♦ Processor: Quad-core Intel Atom Cherry Trail

♦ RAM: 4GB

♦ Storage: 128GB onboard, expandable

♦ Cameras: 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, 5MP front

♦ Battery: 3500mAh battery

The device, as noted above, runs the full Windows 10, as well as Android 5 Lollipop — so no Windows 10 Mobile on this one.

And the Holofone name may be a bit of an overstatement. You get a standard 2D projection, and not the clever augmented reality stuff that Microsoft HoloLens brings to the table. But the fact that users can expect up to two hours of battery life when using the projector, is rather neat.

As reported, the Akyumen Holofone is from a Californian company, and is set to be available in the US on September 1, at various price points starting from $600 for the Education Package.
