Title: Can't see a video
Post by: Sorry~ on September 22, 2009, 12:52:13 PM
Hello all, when I installed win7 ( build 7600 ) I noticed that they weren't compatible drivers for ma video card ( nvidia geforce4 MX 4000 ) so I installed those for XP.. just to have a 1280*1024 resolution.
But I think that this installation has created a big problem : I can't see videos in full screen, means I can't see any video with windows media player or another player, in my hard disk. I can juste see some streaming videos ( and not in full screen ) ..
When I make it in full screen, I get a blue screen of death, as it's called, which shows up like 3 seconds and then the pc reboots.
So, is there a solution for that?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Any recent nVidia graphics drivers should be auto-detected in Windows Update:

I think your graphics card could just be too old to have a dedicated driver out for it at the moment, the nVidia site doesn't even list a Vista driver for it from what I can see.

You might have to stick with the generic VGA drivers or update your graphics card if you want it to work with the beta

Or try this one: version 61.77 drivers for XP, forced the driver to install and it works fine run it as Administrator.
Do not use this one:
93.71 it caused a BSOD when opening Media Center or WMP.

Note: The MX 4000 only supports DX7, and W7 needs a DX9 card.
Note: The hardware requirements are listed on the download page:

Thanks for the reply,
Ya my graphic card is quite old, but i'm lookin for a new one, which i will get in 2 weeks.
For the drivers, I instaled the 93.71 ones, so do I need to uninstall them to install 61.77 ones?
Thanks
