Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 cumulative update in the form of KB3213522 that is specifically aimed at version 1607 of the operating system.
Anniversary Update, that is.
This has been rolled out to fix an issue discovered in a previous update, KB3206632 that the software titan released on December 13, which was the final Patch Tuesday for the year. User were quick to report problems with this particular update, and now the company is offering a resolution.
In the form of KB3213522 (http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3213522) that is now available via Windows Update.
Redmond describes this as:
“This update fixes an issue that was introduced in the December 13, 2016 release (KB3206632) in which virtualization-based security (VBS) does not start, and features that rely on VBS, such as Credential Guard and shielded virtual machines (VMs), stop functioning. Windows 10 and Windows Server 2106 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously released fixes.”
This new update bumps Windows 10 version to 14393.577, but Microsoft has not revealed any other improvements that this refresh brings.
No reports of failed installs either for this one, and installation seems to go smoothly for the majority of Windows 10 machines. So, if you are yet to deploy this, or have experienced issues with the previous cumulative update, then be sure to install this one.
