Friday 27 March 2009 11:51 am, I am somewhat surprised this has not been addressed before this, but I just came across it.

There is not really a way to uninstall Windows 7. The procedure to remove Windows 7 depends on the computer system at hand.

The easiest solution to uninstall Windows 7 would be to simply erase the data on the partition and join that partition again with another one or directly install a new operating system on it.

Here is a quick guide what you should contemplate when uninstalling Windows 7.

Make sure all important data has been backed up. This can be done by copying the data to another hard drive, removable device or by burning it to DVD.

If Windows 7 is the only system it might be enough to simply format the hard drive and install a new operating system. It is always better to install a new operating system on a clean system.

If Windows 7 is part of a multi-boot system it might would be a good idea to format only that partition. The empty partition could then be joined with another one or used to install a new operating system on it.

The boot loader on a multi-boot system will still list the Windows 7 after removing it from the computer system. Windows XP users (or with previous Windows operating systems) can simply edit the boot.ini.file in the root of the hard drive and remove the Windows 7 entry.

Windows Vista users on the other had needed to use a special editor like EasyBCD to remove the Windows 7 entry.

This should cover the uninstall Windows 7 scenarios.
