As you can see above, screenshots of Windows 7 build 7077 have started to appear around the Web. There are also reports that the 32-bit version has been leaked and is readily available on various websites. Nevertheless, a good source has told me there are no noticeable differences between build 7068 and any of the 707x builds. This is much more important than the information leak of build 7070, though it's not immediately apparently. In the "About Windows" dialog box, there isn't an actual build string as we've seen in previous interim builds. It simply says "Version 6.1 (Build 7077)." The only other build we've seen this for is in the beta build released to the public (which also was leaked before Microsoft gave the download to testers): "Version 6.1 (Build 7000)."

The build string for the latest build we know about is "7077.0.090404-1255," which indicates that it was compiled less than a week ago: April 4, 2009, at 12:55pm. Some of you will realize that this is 20 minutes after the supposed build 7105 was compiled, which is widely rumored to be a milestone build. Microsoft only increments the second digit of the build number if an important point in development has been reached. The software giant is expected to give a new build to testers this month, and a public Release Candidate build is coming in May.

In related news, Microsoft is preparing to release an alpha of the Windows 7 Software Logo Toolkit for download on April 14. Companies can use the toolkit to verify an application's compliance against the requirements of the Windows 7 Client Software Logo Program and generate a compliance report based on the outcome of the tests.

I don't see any "usenet"  contacts, why are you all use Torrent.

When you search for  "7077.0.090404-1255_x86" you get 3 contacts at "Usenet".

Downloads are much faster and no interrupts. AVG: 633,2 KB/s

after a 30 min upgrade from dvd i noticed that this copy is faster all around, the icons on the superbar are different when you have a window open and active. when you roll your mouse over the icons of the windows that you have open they change color under the cusor like you are putting pressure on the icon. (like dragging your finger on a lcd screen) the media player in areo peek play / pause and skip forward / reverse works and the 3 buttons change color when you hover them.

Did anyone happen to run a spyware program after going to those sites??? And I don't mean the spyware / virus one that loads from those sites!!!.....7 trojans found on my system (and blocked by my firewalls)...glad I keep up on that stuff!

So who here REALY thinks there isn't any malware / spyware / virus embedded in a windows version downloaded from a Russian web site!! ??? ???

Thanks but no thanks, I'll wait for the RC direct from Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please people BE CAREFULL!!!...we don't need anymore crapola unleashed into the wild, my v7000 build is just fine untill MS releases another version themselves...................

Spyware/ virus checking should be a standard practice - you don't need Russian sites to spread malware - ZDNET just announced that Sir Paul McCartney's official website served some nasty bugs to visitors. With all due respect, if you are such a conservative - and fearful - computer user, what are you doing a) in this forum and b) running a beta program of any provenance????

No x64 yet!

Its funny to see that they are still using old components like:
-old blue/purple circle to show the avaible HDD space(drive properties).
-the old black/green RAM-monitor(taskmanager).
-whole computer management, specially disk management, only icons and headers are changed since win2k.

Definiatly needs a change!

Not "fearfull"....SMART....  I said THINK....if you are getting a "Microsoft" OS from a site (Russian or otherwise), do you not think that anyone with programing skills can modify system files that WILL be part of the "system" and at the least leave you open to things you may not want???...geez....even I could modify code well enough to give the slightly above average user & quite a few testers a run for their money finding where their system got breached...and that's not my most skilled area!!!!!!!!!

Spyware/ virus checking should be a standard practice - you don't need Russian sites to spread malware - ZDNET just announced that Sir Paul McCartney's official website served some nasty bugs to visitors. I think you went a little over the top with this post. What is wrong with us testing leaked builds of Windows 7?

Sure, they could have malware in them, but any program can. And just having an anti virus program, and a firewall doesn't mean that you won't get viruses/malware/spyware. Common sense is needed for this. So please, calm down. I think we all know enough to fix our PCs if things go tits up. I have all my Windows 7 versions on disk. If I screw up with this build, I just need to revert to build 7000. So, calm down and let us get on with what we do. Everything you do on your PC could expose you to spyware. There is no need to be so damn paranoid about it.

Riso, and everyone else here...sorry if I sound like chicken little but I rarely assume that everyone that browses a forum knows as much as most of the people here seem to, I just think that for the safety of the average user, those of us that know how to repair and rebuild (and backup) our systems should type a few extra keystrokes warning the unaware that there may be "issues"...
....kind of like why you should have a fence around a pool, adults either know how to swim, stay away or dogpaddle out....children don't....
......a better example would be ....  say that after I browsed one of the sites that is posted on this forum.... and before the fake "spyware protection program" trojan popped up... I went to the bathroom...meanwhile my wife decided to check her mail....and clicked yes "protect my system"...the popup goes away....she clicks yes to allow on my firewalls (because this is just another bothersome program I must have installed) and she goes on to pay the phone bill or decides to buy something.....could be a problem, don't you think??
....I digress....my point was on this whole site I only saw one post that mentioned "a bonus program" that they found after installing and nowhere have I  seen anyone mention that someone that downloads and installs these leaked versions should not only have virus / malware programs to install and run on these versions, they should install them offline and run them to ensure a clean system & they should also check / disinfect the OS they used to download it. Also I see people all over the net that are treating the beta versions as if it was a complete OS.....

Those of us that know better should be more diligent about forwarning those that don't know better....that was all the point I intended...

I did not mean to offend....I apologize to anyone with a thin skin.......

I find the Windows 7 builds to be remarkable stable for a beta. Having said that though I believe that Microsoft has still a lot of work to do in order to deliver a finished OS. My Mac Pro runs almost perfect with Windows 7 x64 7077. One thing only bothers me: a) Standby doesn't work (the machine goes in standby but doesn't wake up)

I also get the feeling that the compatibility isn't exactly there where Microsoft would like it to see. Many programs don't work, even if they worked fine on Vista, especially drivers.

The OS is really great and when finished it will be the best OS in the world. It made me switch from Mac OS X back to Windows!
