The iPad 3G + WiFi version was officially launched on April 30th and it seems like Apple sold more than 500,000 units so far. Apples tablet computer looks like its very hack-capable as the iPhone Dev Team already released the Spirit jailbreak, but this will actually amaze you: it is possible to send SMS text messages from the iPad using command line.
iPhone hacker, @MuscleNerd posted a tweet and a video on YouTube demoing that the iPad 3G can send SMS. He claims to have sent the SMS from an iPad 3G running on T-Mobiles network. According to MuscleNerd, AT&T is restricting calls and SMS out of the box, but if you trim down a T-Mobile SIM card to make it a microSIM card, you can actually get the iPad to send SMS.
The iPhone Dev Team hasnt mentioned whether someone is working on calls from the iPad 3G, but stop it youre asking too much! For the moment MuscleNerd didnt mention how did he manage to send SMS from the iPad 3G and its baseband using a T-Mobile card, so we should wait for more information in the near future.
