Acer boss blabs Windows 7 ship date: October 23
PC maker Acer confirms it will ship its first PC running on Windows 7 in October - four months ahead of January 2010, which Microsoft still maintains is the official launch date.
The early appearance of the release candidate version of Windows 7 - available online from today - has led many to speculate that Microsoft is likely to hit the go button before January.
In interviews, a number of Microsoft execs have let “09” dates slip between their lips, and in October last year, Asus chief executive Jerry Shen told Laptop that his company would ship a Windows 7 touchscreen version of its eee PC netbook in the second half of 2009.
This morning, seeming confirmation of Microsoft’s October surprise has arrived, with Acer UK managing director Bobby Watkins telling UK site Pocket Lint: "October 23 is the date the Windows 7 will be available.”

Here is what we all have been waiting for years. Finally, we have got the Windows 7’s general availability date. Acer’s UK MD announced that Windows 7 operating system will be available on Acer machines from 23rd October 2009.
Acer’s UK MD told Pocket-link that 23rd October is the date the Windows 7 will be available. There is a 30 day upgrade time so that customers don’t wait to buy a new computer, so if you buy during that 30 day period, you’ll get a free upgrade to Windows 7 operating system.
Though we don’t have any official information about the October release, we can just predict that Windows 7 final is going to available in 2009 itself.
