Well, I am downloading both now but saw the same thing. The strings are the same. If the file size are exactly the same, I don't think it will install over. :o

Windows 7 Release Candidate
Welcome!
Thanks for downloading the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC). This is the last big step toward finishing Windows 7. With your help, our engineers can check the fixes and changes they made based on Beta tests.
We rely on people like you to use the software before it’s commercially released. So if you haven’t already installed the RC, please go ahead. Having thousands of people use the software helps us test thousands of hardware and software combinations—a key to making things work great for you.
Getting started
You don’t need to do anything special to help with the testing. All you need to do is use the RC, and your PC will send information to our engineers.
IMPORTANT: If you are using the Windows 7 Beta, you will need to do a clean installation of the Release Candidate. The Installation Instructions will help you get started. Read them first to make sure you’ve got the information you need for a smooth installation.
As you use the RC, we hope you’ll discover:
- It works the way you expect: it’s fast, reliable, and works with your hardware and software
- It’s simple and easy to use so you can just dig in and use it right away
- It helps you do the things you want to do, and new things you may not have imagined

I just downloaded both the 32-bit and the 64-bit RC versions. I have to say that these were the fastest large file downloads I have ever had. Don't know what MS did to their servers but they did a great job this morning. If someone knows who to thank please thank them for me.

Thank you riso.
I have your 7100 download, so I haven't bothered with today's MS RC build.
I have done a clean install and things look good.
Although I will say when I boot up, connecting to the Internet is not as immediate as it was with 7000.
Thanks again for your guidance.
You too vastac13 :)

o from what i have learned all around me is that the exp date in "winver" still reads 3/1/10 regardless of clean install or upgrade. how come it is not saying 6/1/10? anyone have a light to shed on this? ???
-
Windows will notify you that the expiration process is beginning and two weeks later your PC will begin shutting down every two hours.
The Beta expires on August 1, 2009, and bi-hourly shutdowns will begin July 1, 2009. The RC will expire June 1, 2010, and the bi-hourly shutdowns will begin on March 1, 2010. In both cases, you’ll need to rebuild your test PCs with another valid version of the OS, and reinstall your programs and data.
-
My winver result on the RC1 from the MS website also says expires 3/1/2010.
-
i downloaded both x86 and x64 from MS and the expiration is 3.1.09 that is the date their upgrade notification will become active.
-
i,ve got win 7 rc x64 downloaded from ms site with expire 2.3.2010
