More Evidence of Verizon iPhone Coming January
« on: August 14, 2010, 02:03:42 AM »

It seems like rumors of a CDMA iPhone have being doing the rounds since the first iPhone came out in 2007 and this week, we're presented with yet more "evidence" that a Verizon-bound iPhone is on the way.

A recent report by TechCrunch cites a source familiar with the situation that says Apple has submitted a run for millions of units of Qualcomm CDMA chipsets for a Verizon iPhone run due in December. Addressing the fact that we probably hear Verizon-iPhone rumors once a month, TechCrunch's Steve Cheney says he believes these reports of a January iPhone launch for Verizon are true.

The TechCrunch report aside, there's also the fact that last week we received an email from the Consumer Electronics Association informing us that Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg be one of the keynote speakers at CES this year. CES is one of the biggest consumer electronics shows around and this marks Seidenberg's first keynote at the show. Contradicting reports of a CDMA iPhone in January are reports that Apple and AT&T's exclusivity agreement is a five-year deal and carries through until 2012.
