You can take screenshots in Windows 8 Release Preview easily and they would be saved automatically to your hard drive. Windows 8 Release Preview includes a special and easy to use feature to save screenshots to your hard drive easily without even the need of saving it.

Although, there are many ways of taking screenshots in previous versions of Windows e.g. pressing the ‘Print Screen key’ on your keyboard but, Windows 7 got the option for screen capturing using the built in app named as ‘Snipping Tool’.

Windows 8 includes both the options i.e. ‘print screen’ option and ‘snipping tool’ but, there is another screenshot taking technique which saves the screenshot to hard drive automatically without any user command.

Yes, you can take the screenshot easily and you won’t need to save any screenshot using any app e.g. Paint, Office Picture Manager for print screen button and save command for snipping tool.

How to take screenshot and save it automatically

Whenever you need to take the screenshot of any on-screen object, just press the ‘Windows Key’ along with your ‘print screen’ key to take the screenshot in .png format and save it automatically.

Where the screenshot is saved

The screenshot which is taken automatically, is saved in the ‘Library’ > ‘Pictures’ > ‘Screenshots‘ folder. ‘Screenshots’ folder in Picture Library is created automatically when you use the auto screenshot method. In that folder you would see all the screenshots you have taken so far.

Why use this method for taking screenshots

This method of taking screenshots is better than every other option available in Windows 8. It is fast, doesn’t require any saving, doesn’t require you to edit any photo, doesn’t require you to open any other applications and best of all, you get all the screenshots saved in one specific folder.
