Microsoft's Build 2014 conference is right around the corner. At that event, which kicks off April 2 in San Francisco, Microsoft is believed to be planning to disclose at least some high-level information about Windows 9.
All we know about Windows 9, at this point, has surfaced thanks to "sources with knowledge about Microsoft's Windows plans, but who asked not to be identified by name." You know... "those people."
But these sources have been pretty solid on Windows information in the recent past. Here's a review of what we've learned from them to date about the follow-on to Windows 8.
With Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1, Microsoft tried - not entirely successfully - to make tablets part of a continuum that goes from number-crunching workstations and high-end gaming rigs through all-in-one touchscreen media systems and thin-and light notebooks down to slender touch tablets.
The general consensus is that it still has a long way to go to produce a unified OS.
Despite rumors of an aggressive development and shipping schedule, there's no official word about what's in the next version of Windows, but there are plenty of rumours (many of them from Chinese enthusiast sites that claim to have leaked builds), plus more reliable information from job adverts for the Windows and Windows Phone teams.
Cut to the chase
What is it? There will be A complete update of Windows 8 into a new formed Operating System rich with the goodness of awesome contents and graphics for game lovers
When is it out? We expect it to be out in 2015, but as the rumors suggests, it will be out nearly in the 3rd Quarter of 2014 by the Microsoft.
What will it cost? We really have no idea. But if Windows 8 is anything to go by, it won't cost much to upgrade, and If it does cost, then people will not think about buying it, as it is after all a Windows Operating System
