Windows 10 For Phones Support For Pen & Ink Input Confirmed
« on: March 25, 2015, 01:35:34 PM »
Boy, Microsoft sure has lined up a bucketload of features for Windows 10 for Phones. The company announced several at the WinHEC conference in China last week.

From slow motion video recording to expanded USB connectivity, new health sensors and activity tracking, and even handy toggles for flashlights.

But the company has also hinted at improvements to handwriting recognition in phones powered by the mobile operating system, confirming that Windows 10 for Phones handsets will allow users to draw on screen, thanks to pen & ink input.

This was actually revealed in the documentation for the developer tools released for Windows Insiders.

According to the company:

Quote
“Windows 10 devices will come in many shapes and sizes, many will allow you to draw directly on the screen, and Windows 10 includes a new drawing control and low-latency hardware support for a great experience when adding handwritten content to a page.”
Dubbed DirectInk, Windows Phone developers will soon be able to add new features to their apps, including palm recognition and pressure sensitivity, plus finger inking — fancy name for pen and finger on the same device.

Newer Windows 10 for Phones handsets will come with pen support, and developers will be able to take advantage of these features in their applications.
