Surface Pro 4 To Be A 12-Inch Affair, Latest Rumors Say
« on: April 29, 2015, 05:58:06 AM »

While we don’t know when the Surface Pro 4 will be unveiled, could be tomorrow at BUILD 2015, could be when Windows 10 launches, but a new source has a lowdown on specifications of the new tablet.

A Chinese website claims to have some information on Microsoft’s new slate.

Not the full specifications sheet, but a range of hardware pointers of what the company is preparing for the latest version of its flagship Windows powered tablet.

For starters, Redmond is not planning to use an Intel Core M processor in Surface Pro 4 — instead, the source says that the company will include a fifth-generation Intel Broadwell Core CPUs, the usual suspects like Core i3, i5 and i7.

Many will be relieved to hear that, as the performance of the Core M chips, so far, has left a bit to be desired. And this being a Pro tablet, lackluster processing prowess is just not on.

Interestingly, though, Microsoft is going in with a fanless design for these chips, albeit with tiny holes to dissipate the heat within. Remains to be seen whether these CPUs suffer from extensive throttling, if this is the case, or they run at optimum speed throughout.

The new tablet is said to be thinner, but not lighter, then the current generation Surface Pro 3.

Redmond also wants to use the same design aesthetics and ports placement for the Surface Pro 4 as its predecessor. Or at least, nearly identical. This is to ensure compatibility with current accessories.

However, the screen on the new tablet is reportedly 12-inches, with the same 2160 x 1440 pixels resolution. Microsoft may or may not have made some improvements in display technology here, but the company is apparently keeping the door open for other sizes beyond this.

A mixed bag of rumors, as far as rumors go, but we’ll take what heads our way.

Just make sure to take it with a pinch of salt.
