Did anyone say the most secure version of Windows ever? Microsoft has added new defenses to block malicious content in Windows 10, with the help of a brand new technology.
Which the company is calling
Antimalware Scan Interface.
AMSI, for short.
As elaborately
explained, this new technology blocks dangerous content that is bundled in apps. Windows 10 apps found in the store can actually integrate support for antivirus software — essentially working with security solutions installed on your computer to block malicious content.
Content that could be bundled in the source code.
Cybercriminals and malware authors can target Windows Store applications with remote content that can be used to inject infections directly on the computer.
And this is where AMSI will come into action.
Developers now have the option to integrate antivirus support in their apps, simply by adding in a few lines of code. This will allow security software installed on a PC or device to scan the app’s script, code and content to prevent anything dangerous from happening.
Think of this as a generic interface standard that enables apps and services to work together with security applications, and in fact, Redmond asks for help from antivirus developers here:
