Skype is rapidly becoming the front-and-center contact point for Microsoft’s ecosystem, and the new beta that anyone can try is designed to be built directly into Windows Mobile 10.
That means we hope you love Skype, as it will soon be staring out at you, helping with SMS messaging as well as Skype chats, video calls and so on when the full OS releases.
Soon there should be a matching experience across the Windows 10 desktop and mobile, so you can move a call from one place to another, as you arrive at work, or are leaving for home.
That’ll also be useful if your phone is just about out of power, and you’re on the train with your notebook open.
Currently called the Messaging Skype Beta, anyone can try the app
from this location, this beta version is not the same as the one on the Store.
Feel free to comment to Microsoft with any issues you have, or your likes and dislikes about the beta. Remember, the company will log your activity to monitor the app’s functionality during the test.
With unified communications a huge demand of corporations, expect Skype to be a big part of Microsoft’s business push, and for the app to mesh step upgrades with iOS and Android editions to keep all features available across the widest range of devices.
