The Lumia 550 misses out, though! Microsoft has recently rolled out the first firmware update for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, two of its latest Windows 10 Mobile flagships.

No release notes were available at first, but the software titan finally provided a bit more information regarding what changes users can expect from this latest release.

Firmware version 01078.00027.15506.020xx is the talk of the town right now, and it primarily brings stability and performance improvements to the smartphones. A few enhancements for the SD memory card are also in, as are improved automatic brightness settings.

But for the most part, both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL should run faster after the update, but the handsets will also automatically adjust brightness settings more accurately.

Users have been reporting brightness problems, nice to see these are taken care of.

Microsoft has also included two very important fixes, one for a camera bug that caused an exuberant amount of noise in low light conditions. And another one is for 4K video which, for some reason, led to stripes on recorded clip.

And finally, while the company says there are no firmware updates available for the Lumia 550 yet, we can expect similar improvements for this handset soon too.

Do keep in mind that the availability of firmware update depends on your region and carrier, and it certainly will take a while for this new release to be available on all devices.
