CES 2016: Razer Bring Gaming Ultrabooks to CES
« on: January 06, 2016, 01:57:03 PM »

CES is full of surprises for Windows 10 gaming this year, and here’s Razer with another.

Not only are there gaming-class all-in-one PCs at the show with the latest internal hardware and 3K screens for game players.

Now Razer has crammed plenty of high-end processing power into an Ultrabook.

The Razer Blade Stealth is a sleek 12.5-inch Ultrabook, with prices starting at $999. It packs in a:

• Core i7 6500-U processor.

• On-board Intel 520 HD graphics.

• 8GB Dual Channel RAM.

• 128 to 512 GB SSD.

• Up the price and you can add in a 4K display.

• Cool Backlit Keyboard.

Razer Break Out the Power

The star of this show is the break out dock (below) that allows users to install the graphics card of their choice to drive gaming in the home. You can drop in the latest Radeon or GeForce model to drive the latest games at full power.

The Razer Core also features a quad-bank of USB 3.0 ports and Ethernet for rock solid connectivity.

That all means you can take the Ultrabook out on the road for meetings and travel play, then ramp up the power back home via a Thunderbolt 3 40BGps port for the greatest gaming experience.

The Ultrabook itself weighs a decent 2.75 pounds, with Razer’s Chroma lighting keyboard a neat touch. The Stealh is due next month and will be on show in Microsoft Stores. There’s no release date for the Core dock, which might dent any initial enthusiasm.

Still, its a cool idea and we can expect more vendors to starting shipping these break out boxes for raw power. But even the Stealth is a very well specified Ultrabook at $999, and might tempt those who want a high performance PC without the price of a Surface Book or comparable product.

More information on the Razer site.
