Windows 10 Edge Browser Picks Up New Cortana Features
« on: March 08, 2016, 08:33:29 PM »
Microsoft keeps updating Cortana with fresh features regularly, and this latest addition also improves the Edge browser in Windows 10 with several welcome new options.

It is now possible to ask Cortana to provide image information.

This basically enhances the integration of the digital voice assistant into the application, and the browser now offers better support for the person assistant. Starting today, Edge users can ask Cortana for more details on a selected photo.

All that is required to do is right-click a picture and select the “Ask Cortana” option, which is actually replaced by “Bing Lookup” in case the personal assistant is disabled on the device.

The browser will then automatically search for more information about the image on Bing, and display it on a separate frame on the right.

This is how Microsoft explains this:

Quote
“You’ll get image dimensions and other sizes available, related images, related searches and more. If the image is a product, it displays places to buy that product, and recipes display for food items.”
So far so good.

But while this subtle new addition helps make Edge a better solution, what the browser needs is several key (some call them basic) feature including UI refinements and support for extensions and plugins.

Edge is slowly improving its market share, but important additions like this are necessary to take the adoption of the web browser to the next level.
