Every little bit helps! WinHEC is a gift that keeps on giving, as some new details are out regarding the new features that Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update will bring when it launches this summer.
Following the welcome news of fingerprint scanners.
Continuing the recent streak, slides from the 2016 edition of the conference have revealed that an upgrade for the Bluetooth stack in Windows 10 Mobile is on the cards. More specifically, the update is said to be for the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile.
AVRCP, for short.
The currently generally available version is 1.3, but slides showed at WinHEC list it as version 1.5.
For the record, AVRCP is a mobile only feature, and the current version allows controlling devices to see music control status and metadata.
But version 1.5, which was reportedly part of Windows 10 Mobile build 14283, will allow devices like car head units to browse and search media on the phone. While also controlling volume via what Microsoft calls ‘Absolute Volume’.
Basically, with this new Bluetooth update, Bluetooth devices could be paired with supported machines prior to shipping, essentially saving a step for owners.
Surface owners, for instance.
With Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update slated to arrive later this year, sure shot that AVRCP 1.5 will also be coming along this new version of the mobile operating system.
