Surface Phone Delayed To 2018
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:35:14 AM »
Is that too far out to matter? What will be the health of the Windows 10 Mobile platform by then? If you have been holding out for a Surface Phone, then boy, is there bad news for you here!

And that is because Mary Jo Foley is back with her latest insights.

Which are not quite favorable for this handset.

Microsoft, earlier today, confirmed that it would be holding an event on October 26 — a gathering where it is expected to unveil its new Surface all-in-one desktop PC, complete with some Surface branded keyboards and mouse.

The event is primarily focused on Windows 10, rather than hardware specifically.

But one thing that will probably not be reveled or talked about much at this event is the Surface Phone.

Mary Jo Foley last reported, via her well-informed sources, that the release of this premium handset might not actually come until quite some time after Redstone 2. In fact, most probably, the Surface Phone launch was planned considerably later than then RS2 update.

And now she delivers even more bad news for those hoping to get this smartphone.

As after reiterating that no Microsoft phones will launch this year, she added that the latest information she has from her sources is that it will likely be a late 2017 or maybe even not until 2018 before the Surface Phone arrives.

So it looks like it would be a considerable wait before you can get your hands on the Surface Phone!
