Microsoft Officially Transfers Lumia Support To German Firm
« on: October 06, 2016, 11:00:12 PM »
A move that hints at some big decisions in the near future for this year? Sure sounds like it. Microsoft has officially transferred Lumia support services to a German firm.

Talk about this surfaced a few days ago.

Where it was claimed that the Redmond-based technology giant planned to outsource product support for Lumia phones to a third-party company, a German firm by the name of B2X. And today this move is as official as it can be.

These details have been revealed in a press release, with Rainer Koppitz, Chief Executive Officer of B2X sharing his feelings:

Quote
“It’s an honor for us to work with Microsoft on such an exciting customer care program. Our global aftersales platform is successfully used by some of the leading mobile brands in the world such as Apple, Samsung and Lenovo. Now, we are looking forward to provide a superior customer service experience on behalf of Microsoft.”

As you can see, the firm has worked with several big partners, and it appears that they should have no trouble taking charge of customer support for the entire Lumia lineup. Besides, with no new smartphones being launched with the Lumia branding, all this should be not too difficult to handle.

That said, many believe that the outsourcing of the Lumia brand is a major step towards the demise of the entire phone series, even as Microsoft remains mum on the subject.

B2X, however, are also introducing a new service called SMARTPROTECT, in addition to providing support for Lumia devices. It is specifically aimed at devices that have been purchased less than 6 months ago, and provides customers with an extension of the limited manufacturer warranty.

It basically works in combination with a smartphone insurance.

Complete details of this new service are not available right now, but apparently it will be available with a yearly fee.
