Windows 10 Build 14971 Launches For PCs With New Features
« on: November 18, 2016, 06:11:22 AM »

A new preview of the Creators Update is now available in the form of Windows 10 build 14971 for PCs in the Fast ring, and this fresh build comes with a range of welcome new features.

Prime among them being the ability to read EPUB documents in the Microsoft Edge web browser.

As Microsoft details, along with the option of reading PDF files, the browser can now read any unprotected ebook in the popular EPUB file format. Opening these files takes users into a customizable reading experience that allows them to change things around as needed.

Things like customize the font and text size, choose between three themes — light, sepia and dark.

There is also the ability to leave bookmarks, search for words and phrases, use the table of contents or seek bar at the bottom, and use Cortana to define specific words.

Quite full featured, as far as options go!

Next up in terms of features is the Paint 3D Preview app that is now included as part of Windows 10. This new application will now open when selecting Paint from Start. The Remix 3D Preview feature is also available, in English right now, with more regions and language support incoming.

Which brings us to PowerShell, which is now the default command shell from File Explorer, replacing the tried and tested Command Prompt.

Microsoft also improved the typing experience with Japanese and Chinese Input Method Editors, and the company has also included the Get Office hub that help users get started with and experience the suite of productivity applications on their device.

Sadly, no news on the Windows 10 Mobile front with this build, but you can probably expect Redmond to launch one next week.
