Windows 10 Mobile Build 14977 Fails To Install For Many
« on: December 02, 2016, 06:10:41 AM »
Everyone just keep calm and wait it out! Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile build 14977, the version of the preview that just launched cannot be installed on some phones.

Worse yet, there is no workaround either.

This new version is light on features, only bringing EPUB support on the Edge web browser, but it comes with a fair few refinements and small additions. More importantly, it comes some three weeks after the last real Windows 10 Mobile build.

The ability to read ebooks on Edge is incentive enough for users to try this build.

But sadly, many will not be able to.

As this post on Microsoft’s Answers forum reveals, devices with 8GB of internal storage will likely throw out an error code 0x800700b7. Jason Howard of the Windows Insider engineering team reveals that there is also no workaround for this.

Sadly, there are quite a few lower end Windows phones out there that are likely be affected by this particular bug, including the Lumia 535, 540, 550, 635, 640, 730, and 735.

Luckily, there will not be any harm to the device itself, it is just that encountering this error, it will simply fail to update. And may deliver annoying notifications to restart to install updates, despite the fact that it continually fails to install.

If that happens, you can always switch the phone to the Slow ring, where you can find build 14965, the same build that is available to you in the Fast ring.

Looks like these users will just have to deploy the next Fast ring build release next week.

Everyone just keep calm and wait it out!
