Microsoft Patents Magnetic Stylus For Surface Pro 5
« on: January 03, 2017, 02:41:32 PM »

That’s more like it! With the new year setting in, momentum is picking up for the Surface Pro 5, the next premium tablet that Microsoft is expected to launch this year.

A bit earlier than expected, at that.

Just yesterday, some more information about the successor to the popular Surface Pro 4 came to light, and now a patent has revealed some more details into what the technology giant is preparing for its stylus accessory for the Windows 10 powered slate.

Spotted very recently, this patent shows a stylus that will work with a charging dock, and the system works by equipping the accessory with a magnetic material at one end.

This is to ensure that the pen will securely nest in the charging dock, while at the same time limiting the chance of users misplacing it at the same time. A neat little mechanism that is a nice upgrade from the current Surface Pro stylus which, as you may be aware, uses replaceable batteries to charge.

If Microsoft does implement this patent that was granted to the company at the start of 2016, it will go nicely with the rumored 4K display that the Pro 5 is supposed to sport.

And considering the fact that these still are early rumors that are coming out, we may still be a little while away from the launch of the device.

Then again, Redmond has scheduled an appearance at CES 2017, so maybe we will hear some details at this major event.
