The Media Center in Windows can be used to burn CDs or DVDs also and not only to view movies, watching TV, listen to music, open pictures, creating slideshows and other doing other media related tasks.

Media Center provides support for recording TV footage and also provides support for burning such video content to DVD. Also, the Media Center will convert the video file, so that it can be played on most types of  DVD Players. The burning process for a TV Show, Series, Reality Show etc might take a while, as it depends on your system’s resources, writing speed of the DVD Burner and the length of the video file. Check below the instructions for burning TV Shows, Series or Reality Shows on DVD with Windows 7 / Vista Media Center :

❶ Open Windows Media Center and after that insert a blank DVD.

❷ Now, you should notice ‘Burn a CD or DVD’  in the upper right hand corner, click it. If you can’t see it, you need to go to ‘Tasks’ and select the ‘ Burn CD / DVD ‘ button.

❸ When the ‘Select Disc Format’ window appears, select ‘Video DVD’ and after that you need to select ‘Next’

❹ Now you need to type in  a name for the DVD, click ‘Next’ after you gave it a name

❺ In the ‘Select Media’ screen you need to select ‘Recorded TV’ or the ‘ Video Library’ button, now click Next.

❼ To add more files, you need to click the ‘Add More’ button in the ‘Review & Edit List’ screen.

❽ After you finished adding the video files you can press the ‘Burn DVD’.

❾ When the ‘Initiating Copy’ appears, press ‘Yes’.

❿ After you finish burning the disc and ‘ Completing Disc Creation ‘ alert appears, you need to select ‘Done’

How To Burn An Audio CD With Media Center

Media Center can be used to burn Audio CDs also, and to do this , you need to follow the instructions below which will help you create Audio CDs easily and fast :


❶ Open Windows Media Center and after it pops up, you can go on and insert the CD in the CD or DVD Writer.

❷ In the upper right hand corner you should notice ‘Burn a CD or DVD’ button, click it. If it isn’t displayed, you can click the ‘Burn CD / DVD’ button in the ‘Tasks’ menu.

❸ Now you should see the ‘Select Disc Format’ window, select ‘Audio CD’ and after that select the ‘Next’ button.

❹ Type in the name of the Audio CD and select Next.

❺ Now you should see the ‘Choose Music’ menu, click on the songs, album, artist or on playlist which you want to add and burn them into an Audio CD. Select Next.

❻ To add other music files, you can use the Review & Edit List menu where you select the ‘Add More’ button.

❼ When you finished adding the music files, you can go on and press ‘Burn CD’ on the ‘Review & Edit List’ menu.

❽ When the ‘ Initiating Copy’ screen appears you can select YES.

❾ After the burning process is completed you can press ‘Done’ when the ‘Completing Disc Creation’ screen is displayed.

How To Burn Video, Music and Pictures To Data CD or DVD With Media Center

So, if you want to burn pictures, music and video files on CDs or DVDs, then you should know that Media Center has support for burning such files on DVDs or CDs. Check the instructions below which explains how you can do that easily.

❶ Open Windows Media Center and when its main menu is displayed you should insert a blank CD or DVD into the burning drive.

❷ Now, you should notice the ‘Burn a CD or VD’ button in the upper right corner of the Media Center’s windows. Click it. If it isn’t displayed, you can go to Tasks and select ‘Burn CD / DVD’ from there.

❸ Now you should select ‘Data CD’ or ‘Data DVD’, depending on the disc that you want to create. After that press ‘Next’.

❹ Type in the name that you want to use for the new disc and press ‘Next’ after that.

❺ Now you should see ‘ Select Media’ window, select the first media file that you want to burn on the DVD or CD. After that press ‘Next’.

❻ Select the videos, images or audio files that you want to add. The files that will be added should display a check mark over them. After you finished adding files, press ‘Next’

❼ To add other files, on the ‘Review & Edit List’ window, press the ‘Add More’ button. If you want to add other files repeat this action.

❽ When you finished adding the files, press Burn CD or Burn DVD depending on the disc that you inserted. Burn DVD or Burn CD is displayed in the ‘Review & Edit List’ menu.

❾ When the ‘Initiating Copy’ screen is displayed, press YES.

❿ After the burning process is completed and the ‘ Completing Disc Creation ‘  message appears, press Done and you will be ready to use the CD or DVD created.

How To Create a DVD Slideshow with Music In Media Center

The Media Center which comes with Windows 7 or Vista, contains support for creating slideshows and burning them to DVDs. Also, you can add music over the slide shows or you can choose to create them without sound. The pictures comprised within the slide show will be displayed at an interval of 7 seconds in the exact same order that you added them onto the DVD. ❶ Open the Windows Media Center and after that you can insert the blank DVD or CD into the burning drive.

❻ Now you should see ‘Choose Music’ window and there you can select audio files by artist album, song, genre or playlist and after that add them on the DVD SlideShow. Now press ‘Next’.

❼ If you want to add other music files, press the ‘Add More’ button in the ‘Review & Edit List’ menu.

❽ Now, you need to go to ‘Choose Picture’ menu and open a folder with photos and select the ones that you want to be displayed in your DVD Slide show. After you finish this task, press ‘Next’.

❾ After you finished adding all the music and pictures in the DVD Slideshow you can click the ‘Burn DVD’ button in the ‘Review & Edit List’ window.

❿ When the ‘Initiating Copy’ is displayed, press Yes.
