Windows Store for Windows 8 RTM is getting dozens of new apps everyday but, interesting thing to see in many of those apps is that they are showing advertisements in the apps when they are open in Metro Modern interface.

Microsoft recently released the technical preview of the Advertising SDK for Windows Metro Apps and now, the apps in Store are showing the advertisements. Although, the developers have to earn something by providing free apps but, it makes the Metro Immersive interface of Windows 8 a big failure.

I can’t understand the reason behind providing the option to integrate ads in apps when we are using the Metro Modern-UI which promises to provide the immersive and user wanted experience and to remove the extra and unwanted content.

Everyone develop apps to earn, that’s an understandable point but, it doesn’t quite suites the new interface of Windows 8 to show in-app advertisement. When the option to provide paid apps is there, is there any need to shows advertisement?

Many new apps in Windows Store like the weird ToiletPaperGame, the Solitaire and VilalChess etc are now showing the advertisements during the app use. Usually one ad unit is being showed and it always has Bing ads but, the advertisement decreases the size of interaction area for the user. The size of ad unit is 728 x 60 pixels and it is being placed on the right, top or bottom of the screen.

One thing I observed that the free apps are showing the advertisement but, for me it’s ok to show the ads. The thing I don’t like is advertisement  in Modern-UI of Windows 8, not acceptable.

Bottom line:

Microsoft is providing the full revenue opportunities for the developers to earn from their Windows Store apps but, the UI of Windows 8 isn’t quite designed for the advertisements.
