Microsoft has just announced that Disney is now porting more of its games and apps to the Windows platform and a wave of exciting titles are expected to be available on the Windows Store.
And as you would have guessed most of them are on track for release this fall — around the time the final version of Windows 8.1 is expected to hit general availability. The software titan talked about these Disney apps at the BUILD developer conference.
Steve Guggenheimer, the corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Developer & Platform Evangelism (DPE) group said in a blog post:
“I’m excited to announce that Disney is bringing more top games to Windows and Windows Phone that our customers love and want. Avengers Initiative, Monsters University, Temple Run: Oz and Wreck It Ralph are coming to the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store this Fall and Toy Story Smash It! is also coming to the Windows Store this Fall.”
While these are just some of the high profile apps that are expected to reach the Windows Store in the coming months, the overall scenario goes deeper than this.
There seems to be a positive shift in companies and developers where they are paying attention to and coding for the Windows platform. The official Twitter client was recently released, and official Facebook, Flipboard and Foursquare apps are also confirmed to be in the pipeline.
