Hp dv6000 lap and 4gB ram
« on: August 29, 2009, 10:40:41 AM »
I'd using my HP DV6184ea (DV6000) with Win7 7600RTM 64 bit Ultimate Dk. Intel 945GM chipset.

I'd bought a new ram block 2GB Kingston and  have now 4 GB . Read in bios.
But Win7 are saying that I have 4 GB, but only 3 GB is in use. How come ???.
BIOS is modificated F29 ( able to use any Wifi card even N-draft, and works well)

As i'm remembering from Vista it is possible   to use more than 3 GB using 64 bit in ultimate... ::)

Determine the amount of Random Access Memory (RAM)

Use one of the following methods to confirm the amount of installed RAM.

Method 1: System Information

Click Start and then click Run .

Type msinfo32 and click Ok .

The amount of RAM is displayed in the right column under Total Physical Memory .

Method 2: System Properties

NOTE:  The amount displayed may be less then the amount of physical RAM installed if the notebook uses shared video RAM.

Right click the My Computer icon on the Windows Desktop.

Select Properties .

The amount of RAM is displayed next to the CPU speed.

NOTE:  The amount of displayed RAM may not take into account shared video memory. The amount displayed may be less than the amount of physical RAM installed.

NOTE:  If the My Computer icon is not displayed click Start , Run and type sysdm.cpl . Then click Ok .

Method 3: Help and Support

Click Start and then Help and Support .

Under Pick A Help Topic , click Learn More About Your PC .

Under My HP Computer , click System Information . The amount of installed RAM is listed under Memory .

Method 4: Computer Setup

NOTE:  This method may vary depending upon the BIOS installed on the notebook PC.

Boot or restart the computer.

Repeatedly press the F10 key to enter Computer Setup.

On the File Menu, use the Up and Down arrow keys to select System Information and press the Enter key. The amount of installed RAM is listed under Memory Size .
