MSI launches S100 Windows Bay Trail tablet
« on: August 09, 2014, 12:50:37 AM »
MSI’s latest tablet features a 10 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, and Windows 8.1 software. The tablet’s called the MSI S100 and we’ve seen it before… but now MSI is officially launching the tablet, which it calls a 3-in-1 device.

The MSI S100 has an Intel Atom Z3740D quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a micro SD card slot, mini HDMI output, 802.11n WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. It has 2MP front and back cameras and a 10-point multitouch display. The tablet is powered by a 7500mAh battery.

MSI bundles the tablet with a keyboard cover which lets you use the system as a notebook, and the HDMI output means you could connect an external display along with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to use the tablet like a desktop… which I guess is why MSI calls the tablet a 3-in-1.

It’s hardly the first device of its type. Acer, Asus, Dell, and other companies offer similarly-sized tablets with similar Intel Atom processors… and many come with sturdier-looking keyboard docks as well.
