BitDefender Labs has released Bitdefender Adware Removal Tool for Windows PC. The tool was already available for Mac systems, but a beta version of this tool is now available as a free download for Windows systems.

Bitdefender Adware Removal Tool for Windows will help you identify and remove unwanted software like Adware, malicious hijacker programs, toolbars and suspect browser add-ons. It is a 42 MB portable freeware that does not require to be installed. You can simply download it and run its scan.
The user interface is spartan. It doesn’t have much to offer. Once you have accepted its terms, you are offered the Get Started button. Clicking on it, will start the scan. The scan in my case lasted 3-4 minutes – so its reasonably quick, in my opinion.
Once the scan is completed, you will offered a list of threats which you can decide to remove. If no Adware is found, you will be accordingly informed.
One good thing about this tool is that it offers you a link to a web page that lets you download and use BitDefender Internet Security free for 6 months. Thats quite a generous offer.
These days most antivirus software include definitions to detect and remove all types of malware including Adware. In case folks require a second-opinion, they might as well download and use a portable second-opinion anti-malware remover, that would detect and remove all malware – including Adware. So I am really wondering who would end up using this tool, which is aimed at Adware removal only.
Nevertheless, the BitDefender name should be enough guarantee, to ensure that the tool would do a top-notch job in Adware detection and removal.
