As expected, Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10080, and users enrolled in the Windows Insider program can grab this new version via Phone Update.
The company had been teasing this build for a while now.
And although development of the mobile operating system is a few steps behind its desktop counterpart, this build of Windows 10 Mobile comes with several new features — including a Windows Store Beta app for mobile devices.
Quite similar to what’s available on the PC.
This is, of course, part of Microsoft’s strategy to unify its stores across all devices, streamlining the process of finding and download apps, games, music, movies and TV shows.
Just in case you were wondering, the ability to download music via the integrated store is not available in this build, but it will surely be added in future preview versions.
As for other new additions to the platform, new Office apps are in, again, as widely anticipated. You can try out the latest mobile version of the company’s productivity suite in build 10080.
A new Camera app is also in, which Microsoft recommends users to try and provide feedback on. Xbox, Music Preview and Video Preview are other applications bundled in this particular preview version of Windows 10 Mobile.
And finally, this build also brings in support for Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, Lumia 640 XL, as well as the HTC One (M8), meaning owners of these devices can deploy this version.
Again, it is recommend not to install these preview builds on your main phone, as they may come with certain bugs and issues, given that the operating system is still in the development phase.
But if you are feeling adventurous, then simply install the Windows Insider app from the Windows Phone Store on your Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphone, enroll in the Fast ring, and then go to the phone update menu and download all available updates.
