Rumors Say,Windows 10.1 Will Launch In October 2016
« on: May 09, 2015, 04:35:49 AM »
Can we stay on Windows 10 rumors for now, please? WZor is back with some new intelligence, claiming that Windows 10.1 should be on our radars next year.

That Microsoft is working on a few major updates for its new operating platform is common knowledge.

But while Windows 10 is not yet here in final form, details continue to make their way to the web about what the software titan is planning ahead for the operating system. People with good track record on these things are weighing in on things like Update 1 and Redstone.

This time around, Russian leaker WZor claims that while Windows 10 will arrive this summer, Redmond is aiming at October of next year for the launch of the next major update to the OS.

Here’s the tweet, if your, um, Russian is sound:

October is traditionally Microsoft’s favorite timeframe to introduce new Windows versions.

And while Windows 10 proper is set to get a summer launch this time around, Windows 10 for Phones is still expected to see daylight in October.

What’s interesting here is the designation Microsoft is preparing for the update. WZor claims that his sources indicate that Windows 10.1 is the name of the next refresh of the platform. What is not clear is whether Windows 10.1 is actually the Redstone or not.

If so, this has shades of how Apple rolls with the Mac OS releases, point increments every year.

Not a bad strategy at all, Microsoft could opt for something similar for Windows.
