Microsoft To Unveil A 14-Inch Surface Pro 4 Next Month
« on: September 15, 2015, 05:41:31 PM »

When your competitors go big, you go bigger! Reports are rife that Microsoft is ready to unleash the Surface Pro 4 on October 6 in two different models, one of which comes with a brand new form factor.

Basically, the device will come in a couple of sizes.

This is in order to better tackle the growing demand of 2-in-1 hardware.

First up will be the direct successor to the Surface Pro 3 that will come with a 12-inch screen. And though Microsoft has been mum on the specifications, there is talk that this model will be based on a fanless design — meaning it will be as thin as its predecessor, it not even thinner.

The new Intel Skylake line of processors will be put to good use here.

Expect premium price for this machine, which will continue to be offered with a digital pen and keyboard accessory, and all that goodness.

However, the real interesting development is that of an even bigger Surface tablet. Microsoft is yet to finalize the name for this machine, and may end up calling it something other than the Surface Pro 4 in order to set it apart from the rest of the models.

This tablet is likely to come with a 14-inch screen, and pack even more powerful hardware insides. That is to say laptop class Intel Skylake processors that will necessitate the need of fans.

If something like this at play, then that would bring Microsoft ever closer to the dream of the Surface laptop. Or at least, take on the laptop market, if nothing else.

That said, this second new tablet will feature even more premium hardware, with focus on productivity, and improved features like Windows Hello integration and accessories like keyboard and pen.

Microsoft is now sending out invites for a hardware event on October 6, and full details should be with us around that time.
