Google Rolls Out New Stable Version of Chrome 3
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:57:33 PM »

In honor of Chrome's first birthday, Google is announcing a "brand new stable release" of the browser – because nothing says "happy first birthday" like a little stability.

"This release comes hot on the heels of 51 developer, 21 beta and 15 stable updates and 3,505 bugfixes in the past year," Google wrote in a Tuesday blog post.

According to Google, the browser has been sped up, with a 25-percent increase in Javascript performance over the last stable version. The browser has also been redesigned a bit in places like the Tab page, which takes on a sparser look. Performance of the browser's Omnibox URL/search field has also been optimized, helping users distinguish suggested sites from search, bookmarks, and browser history.

The latest release of Chrome also incorporates a number of HTML 5 features including the embedded video tag. A Themes gallery makes the browser even more customizable.
