Microsoft Still Pursing The Windows As A Service Concept
« on: November 11, 2015, 09:45:35 PM »
The Windows as a Service concept was all the rage for a select few months early in the days before Windows 10 was officially announced, but things went quite on that front real fast.

Also known as Windows Cloud or Windows 365, the last bit of intelligence we received on this project was that Microsoft was developing such a project and aiming for a release sometimes in 2020 — with plans to offer it for free.

Sort of like a freemium model, with some features requiring a paid monthly subscription.

Anyway, if you thought that the previous report was last we heard on Windows as a Service, then you will be glad to know that Redmond is still working on this.

Though, things are still in the earliest of stages for this project.

This was confirmed by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the company’s Future Decoded event in London.

An Operating System-as-a-service was the exact word that Microsoft used, explaining that this whole cloud expansion represents what is the first stage of the firm moving towards this SaaS model.

Software as a Service, that be.

Nadella was, obviously, referring to the Azure Cloud platform expanding in the UK market with new data centers and a completely new region for the popular service.

That said, everything is in a concept stage right now, as one can expect, with the software titan currently focused on making sure Windows 10 becomes a raging and certified success.

Once that milestone is achieved, we are sure to hear more about this Windows as a Service business.
