CES 2016: Acer’s V Nitro Black Updated
« on: January 04, 2016, 09:42:46 PM »
Acer’s new range of laptops for CES 2016 has just been unveiled.

The star of the Taiwanese gadget maker’s show is the latest V Nitro Black model, with the cool backlit keyboard.

They stand out alongside new more affordable models, a new Windows 10 phone and other Acer attractions. But they don’t just look slim and sexy on the exterior.

The internal specifications for the V Nitro Black range now include support for:

♦ Intel Core Skylake CPUs,

♥ Nvidia GeForce GTX960M graphics

♣ GDDR5 VRAM

♠ NVMe PCIe SSDs.

These powerful bits of kit will seriously speed up the performance of the 15 and 17-inch models. offer high-end notebook performance in a very slimline product.

Also featuring Dolby Audio technology and Intel’s RealSense cameras, prices start from $1,099 (€1,299), due in February.

Complete details are yet to be announced, but expect to find out more in the coming days, if you’re keen on the Nitro’s sleek design and power.

The RealSense camera can be used with Windows 10’s Hello feature for quick and easy access.

As Microsoft pushes the likes of Cortana and Hello, expect Intel to drive new uses for RealSense that could make for some interesting applications.

The early news from CES suggests that few vendors want to merely sell you a laptop this year, with extra features and services being crammed in wherever possible.

Expect plenty more of this sort of activity as the CES show and the year rolls on.

The new model is featured on the Windows Blog, with the company’s own laptop pages not yet updated.

Competition will be fierce as makers try to bring down the size and weight of their devices while increasing or maintaining power and performance, largely helped by the recent Intel Skylake processors.

Which do you consider more vital, weight or power when it comes to your next laptop? Or will you be sticking to a desktop for the full, unfettered Windows 10 experience?
