Acer has taken covers off its first Android smartphone - the Acer Liquid. While you might take a second look at it for it being an Android laden Acer, there is another reason why this phone might grab your attention. This beast of a phone is actually the first phone to sport Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
The Liquid was earlier known as the A1 and will use Donut beneath a customized Acer interface that according to Acer, "provides easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks.". The device sports a 3.5 plus inch screen with WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution display. The 5 megapixel camera should provide above average imaging abilities as well. The phone is social networking friendly as well -- but then, so are most other smartphones of today.
The Acer Liquid comes with a Spinlets application that offers "free streaming of worldwide music and video" for sharing "with friends and family through web-posting or e-mail." While Acer hasn't mentioned the expected date of arrival of this device, we might just be looking at a late 2009 or an early 2010 release. Folks over at Electric pig have some live images of the phone already.
