The RAM requirement for Windows XP Pro is 256MB and recommended is 512MB, therefore double your RAM.  If the mobo will support 1 GB max it out.

If you need all of these torrents, you need to learn to find them yourself.

However for this bunch here are the links, if they are any good I cannot atest to that.

This computer would not support Nero 9, so I found Nero 7 from torrentz.com! It's quite and old PC. It's my Nan's PC.

The specs are:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.60ghz (I think)
256MB of RAM
40GB Hard Drive
Windows XP
Nvidia Graphics

It's a fujitsu model. I'm going round their house on Saturday so I will do a RAM check then!

I wouldn't make my Nan use a pc with only 256MB of RAM.
Nan's are very wise and she'll know you could do better but will not say that to you.
Afterall many Nans have lived through two world wars are are still here.
Get her RAM sorted dear Sam.

Good build?

I went on Power Computing and built a PC for here:
AMD Home/Office Entry Level,
Black and Silver ATX Micro Tower Case,
400 Watt Power Supply Unit,
Asus M2N68-AM Plus,
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Dual Core 2.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache,
Samsung 2GB DDR2 800MHz,
250GB 7200RPM SATA II,
22x DVD RW Black SATA,
Built-in graphics,
Keyboard and optical mouse with Desktop Speakers,
Built-in audio

Do you think that's a good build for a replacement? She doesn't need a monitor becaues her HP one is farily new.

Sounds like a very nice replacement, you should buy me one too.   ;D

Just kidding, take care of your Nan.

What kind of integrated graphics does it have?  You may want to get at least an entry level ATI or Nvidia card.

Ok. Well my nan said that she's going to sell her old desk and desktop, and get a smaller desk with a new desktop if she could afford it and since she's not an IT person, I know a lot more about computers than she does, and that's why she lets me choose! So this build needs to be cheap and less RAM taking by having a entry level Nvidia graphics card. Which getforce would you recomend?

Maybe a GeForce 8400 GS, you can pick them up relatively cheap nowadays.

Yes. The PC would be built by an actual company, not by me. They do getforce 8400GS. Do they take up RAM and are they good on Windows 7?

Most models of the 8400GS have 256-512MB of dedicated video memory, so it won't be using the system RAM for itself like an integrated card would.

Also since it's a Nvidia card, you'll be able to use the DirectCompute API in Windows 7 since they have driver support for more than just their latest releases (can't say the same for ATI's cards).  I like ATI, but their product support is really frustrating on occasion.

I'm going to be installing XP SP2 in a minute and installing Microsoft Office 2010 beta! I tried office 2007 on there before and it does work.
