Enable Aero on Windows 7 & Vista Home Basic with Aero Enabler
« on: December 29, 2009, 08:20:51 AM »
In past we have posted guide on how to enable Aero on Windows 7 as well as registry hack to enable Aero on Windows 7. Aero Glass interface on Windows 7 & Vista can only be activated if your system meets the minimum hardware requirements. Those computers with no graphics card or low end graphics card can’t enjoy Aero.
Aero is not available Windows 7 Home Basic & Windows Vista Home Basic edition. Well dont worry you can now enjoy Aero interface irrespective of hardware requirements or Windows edition. Aero Enabler is small utility which will disable the hardware check & enables Aero for you.
NOTE: It is developed exclusively for Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows Vista Home Basic. Do NOT try this tool in any other versions of OS.

Enable Aero on Windows 7 & Vista Home Basic with Aero Enabler
"Windows 7 Home Basic" is a seldom installed version. I would much more interested in "AERO Enabler for Windows 7 Starter". Windows 7 Starter version is installed on many Netbooks. But "AERO enabler for Windows 7 Home Basic" do not work on Windows 7 Starter.

Some extra info:

Hardware Check' before you turn on Aero =>

Windows 7 requires the following hardware in order to enable Aero:

DirectX 9 acceleration

WDDM- compatible driver

128 MB of graphics memory

Pixel Shader 2.0 with 32 bits per pixel support

Windows 7 Starter does not include:

•Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the “Windows Basic” or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
•Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
•The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
•Multi-monitor support.
•DVD playback.
•Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
•Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
•Domain support for business customers.
•XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.

Correct. But Windows 7 Home Basic also not has access to AERO.

Ultimate and Enterprise: AERO included
Professional: AERO included
Home Premium: AERO included
Home Basic: AERO not included
Starter: AERO not included

I have a Netbook with Windows 7 Starter preinstalled. I also installed Home Premium on this Netbook. In Home Premium AERO is possible. So the Hardware fits the minimum hardware configuration.

So: Why can the "AERO enabler for Windows 7" enable AERO for Home Basic and not also for Starter ?
