While the tech world now knows what the iPad is all about both inside and out, already folks are bored with the device — and it hasn’t even come out yet. The combination of mediocre hardware features and a dull operating system has made many who were once eagerly anticipating the device turn their backs for good (or at least until the device goes through several generations, to be fair).
But if you’re looking for a more in-depth experience with your brand-spanking-new iPad come this March, there may be a solution for you. We call it “Windows 7″ — and it’s a full-fledged operating system (how about that?).
Software company Citrix has made claims that the tablet will be well capable of running Microsoft’s post-Vista OS virtually via Citrix Receiver, according to an online community post from several days ago.
“If your company has XenDesktop or XenApp you will be happy to know you will be able to use your iPad for real work as well,” wrote Chris Fleck, VP of Community and Solutions Development at Citrix.
“It turns out the 9.7 inch display on the iPad with a 1024×768 screen resolution works great for a full VDI XenDesktop. Windows applications run unmodified and securely in the data center, and even multiple applications at once. The advancements that were made for the Citrix Receiver for iPhone will carry over to the iPad, however the iPhone restrictions of screen size and small keyboards are overcome with the iPad,” he continued.
